Try these fun food activities with your child. Show your child a new food (kiwi, star fruit, avocado, bell pepper, or jicama) and explore the food by asking these questions, “What color is the food?” or “Is the food bumpy or smooth?” or “What do you think it tastes like?” Use food rhymes (link to “Rhyming with Food” activity) to get your child more familiar with the food. Now cut it open and take a bite!

Crunchy Confetti Creation

Time to Make: 10 minutes
Servings: 2

Mixing Bowl
Mixing Spoon
Liquid Measuring Cup
Dry Measuring Cup (1/4 cup)
Child-safe utensil to cut vegetables

1 cup low-fat, plain yogurt or sour cream
¼ cup dried vegetable soup or dip mix
Mixed assorted, chopped raw vegetables, like:
Carrot, cucumber, zucchini, jicama, daikon radish, bell pepper strips, broccoli or cauliflower.

1) Wash your hands with your child.
2) Wash and cut the vegetables
3) Have your child mix yogurt or sour cream with the vegetable soup mix.
4) Dip raw vegetables into the confetti creation dip.
